NUMECA announces new partnership with Sentient Blue for upcoming LITTLE CUP 2015

We are happy to announce that NUMECA and Sentient Blue have established a partnership for the upcoming LITTLE CUP world championship, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, in September 2015.
Sentient Blue is using NUMECA’s grid generator HEXPRESS™ and the whole FINE™/Marine suite, NUMECA’s integrated CFD software environment dedicated to marine applications.
“With HEXPRESS™, we have a powerful meshing tool that will allow us to discretize arbitrary and complex geometries with ease. In FINE™/Marine, we have what we believe to be the world’s most advanced, multiphase CFD solver” says Sentient Blue’s Technical Director Dr. Saïf-Deen Akanni “Its Graphical User Interface is well suited for the optimization of high performance, wingsail, hydrofoiling catamarans in the LITTLE CUP class. These capabilities allow us to spend most of our time designing to maximize the performance from Alpha, our current boat for LITTLE CUP 2015 to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, and to create a world class new design boat for LITTLE CUP 2017.”

About Sentient Blue
Sentient Blue was formed in Murcia, Spain as a subsidiary of Balance Arquitectura Naval, in 2010 by John Downey, Dr. Saïf-Deen Akanni and Sito Alvilés as the first step to designing a C-Class catamaran and fielding a team to compete in the Little Cup. The team and company have since been moved to Blankenfelde-Mahlow, Germany where it has been incorporated as Sentient Blue Technologies GmbH.
Over the years, the effort has attracted a core group of engineers from diverse disciplines. Having recognized the business potential of this skill set, Sentient Blue will be engaging in other high technology sectors over the coming years but the company will remain in high performance sailing. Their first own-design boat for the Little Cup will appear for the Little Cup 2017. They intend to enter at least two boats for this competition. More details about the team can be found on the website www.sentientblue.com.
