ORACLE TEAM USA selected NUMECA'S FINE™/Marine as its sole and unique CFD commercial code  for the hydro and aero dynamics of their ship designs for the next America's Cup Race.

NUMECA has partnered with ORACLE TEAM USA to provide the design team with a comprehensive CFD analysis solution in its defense of the 35th America’s Cup” said ORACLE TEAM USA general manager Grant Simmer. 

"ORACLE TEAM USA considered several criteria in selecting a RANS-based CFD solver for our aero- and hydrodynamic analysis applications: available algorithms for modeling various flow-physics problems, among them those involving multi-phase, unsteady and turbulence phenomena; ability to include user-defined functionality into the solver; implementation and robustness of the rigid-body motion solver; convergence and CPU run-time performance; grid generation; and the planned development road-map." said ORACLE TEAM USA design CFD engineer Len Imas "Given the recent results and positive user experience obtained with FINE™/Marine, ORACLE TEAM USA design team determined it is the best tool to support their CFD-based analysis efforts in the upcoming America's Cup design campaign. We want to do a better job of predicting boat performance than we did last time and working with NUMECA will start us down that path.
