Soot model developed at TU Delft
FINE™/Open with OpenLabs™ was used to develop a soot model by adding a transport equation for the soot mass-fraction with added nucleation and oxidation source term based on Khan and Greeves + Magnussen’s oxidation model. It was applied to simulate Kent and Honnery’s turbulent ethylene flame (1987).
Stevens Institute used FINE™/Marine to study a free-surface hydrodynamic model for simulating planing hull hydrodynamics. In addition, FINE™/Marine is an example of NUMECA’s close collaboration with universities, as its solver originated as a research tool at Ecole Centrale de Nantes and is still developed there.
The Technische Universität München-Institute for Flight Propulsion is using FINE™/Turbo in research projects. For example, the software has been used to study interaction between the flow and different casing treatments for a high pressure compressor.
